Read.Write.Review.Obsess

I am a hopeless romantic who will one day be swept of her feet by a white knight. Until then I will continue to write/read/review about alpha heroes.

Frailty: The Darkshine

Frailty: The Darkshine - Jenika Snow This vampire romance was original, action-filled was a story of forbidden love and sacrifice. The beginning starts with the end of the world.. so to speak. The world is overtaken by vampires, who call themselves the Darkshine.

Helena is human and after walking in on her sisters murder by a vampire, she flees to a cake to seek refuge. She listens to the radio and finds that the whole world has succumbed to the vampires. A predator stalks her, she's knows she's living on borrowed time.

When she meets Gaijryc the crown Prince of the vampires, he vows to help her, protect her. She knows she has no choice by to trust him, but can she trust herself with her growing attraction to one of the monsters that killed her sister.

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Jenika's books, but this has to be her best yet.

I loved this book! Royal vampires has been done before, but I liked how original I found this. The details of the 'new world' were carefully planned out and executed. You weren't left guessing about the how's and whys. The romance between our hero and heroine was sweet. Resubmit overly possessive like the hero's in Jenika's other books, but I felt that it would not have fitted in with the overall tone of the book if he was.

Moments of this book are gut wrenching, filled with emotions and other parts were bloody, fight scenes, which kept the book engaging and thrilling.

In conclusion, this was a refreshing take on a very popular genre, which was well thought out and descriptive. Cannot wait to see more of this series
